Pretty upset I didn't get to see Morphine before Mark Sandman passed. I ALMOST did. We were going to, and then we found out that he was gone.

Mark MADE his own 'bassitars' - they have only a couple strings (you can see one in this first video!)

I got hooked in the 90s with "Sharks" and this RIDICULOUSLY good song, "Honey White"

Morphine - The Night

It's weird how this album got buried/lost because of Mark Sandman's unexpected death of a heart attack, at 46, before its release.

I'd seen Treat Her Right numerous times at the Plough and Stars, back in the day, and Morphine continued in the "less is more" vein. The Night adds a bit more to that...and is a fantastic record.

Light in the Attic records re-released it as a double 45RPM LP with an informative booklet. Sounds great!

Evening listening: Vapors of Morphine - Fear And Fantasy. Successor band to the '90s indie alternative stars Morphine continues the "low rock" legacy. Louisiana blues man Jeremy Lyons admirably takes over Mark Sandman's frontman role and adds to the repertoire and sonic palette, along with Morphine saxophonist Dana Colley, original Morphine drummer Jerome Deupree, and new drummer Tom Arey. They're great live too!
