What a difference a decent antenna makes. With either the small sma antenna or mini coil antennas that come with the #HeltecV3 all I could see on the map has a few dozen #meshtastic nodes along the Bristol channel.
With the 868mhz whip antenna from #paradar, I'm constantly seeing new nodes over the last 12hrs, people actually chatting in #longfast (from Cornwall). Maybe if I put the antenna in my loft I'll see new nodes north of #chepstow (CpNB)
is this normal?
I have a T-Deck Plus with external 915 antenna. It sees 20+ nodes, many without padlock but also a bunch of green ones, up to some 50 km away, over the mountains from Santa Cruz into San Jose, Gilroy and Salinas...
But messages sent from Android app to #LongFast are never delivered, and from the device itself it shows up only on the phone app. It's also not receiving messages.

When you visit a city that has an operational #Meshtastic network, are communications in that network usually on #LongFast or other, private channels unique to the location?
Just trying to understand normal practices. I checked a few of the regional mesh websites listed at Meshtastic.org but didn't find any listed channel credentials.
