1 Lennoxvale was originally built in 1924 for architect Thomas Callender in an Italianate style before later being acquired by Queen's University Belfast. Despite its prime location in one of Belfast’s most expensive residential areas, the mansion has stood vacant and derelict for decades, becoming a local curiosity as redevelopment plans repeatedly stalled while the grounds continued to receive occasional maintenance beside active university buildings.
