That early run of The X-Files really is hard to beat. Seasons 1–3 have that perfect balance where the mythology is still mysterious, the “monster-of-the-week” episodes feel genuinely eerie, and the Mulder/Scully dynamic hasn’t become overly self-aware yet.

It is located in the Mojave Desert region of southern Nevada, about 80–100 miles (130–160 km) northwest of Las Vegas. It is believed the UFO said to have crashed in Roswell in 1947 was taken there to be studied.
