Starting to learn shading. ✍️

Tried to really separate out the form light, form shadow, terminator, cast shadow, core shadow, reflected light, half tones, center light, highlight, ambient light, ambient occlusion, and penumbra.

Sacrificed a bit of realism but this was a studying exercise. So not too worried there.

All part of the learning journey. 🤓

Had a lot of fun. On to the next! 🙌

Unfortunately, not really feeling like drawing my character in a game style today. I don't have any time or will! Saving it for Friday instead, I'll be drawing double I think.

An anatomy/bone study of the hand. Working from Michael Hampton’s “Intro to Figure Construction” course material. A very fun study session!

Tried to experiment with less lines in this #gesturedrawing while still capturing some kind of emotional weight. Many things I can learn from here. Onward!

Some #gesturedrawing practice. Tried to keep it loose. Lots to learn from as always. On to the next.

Some #gesturedrawing practice. Mistakes here and there. That just means more to learn from. On to the next!

@jrbee @brook OMG ants! I haven't tried that, it must be hard!

Well my goal is to be able to do my own book covers, at least until I can be able to legimately and respectfully pay a book cover artist/partner ....though I find I really like digital painting, I find it really relaxing, so I may keep going at it even after achieving "just enough" to get on!

I want to be able to paint and draw my own covers, so I'm starting with just some basics as I don't have an art background, and I'm using Rebelle 7. I also have Krita and Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo, but I like Rebelle a the best. I got an inexpensive drawing tablet that hooks up to my Windows computer. I started over the summer but Life has caused me to be inconsistent but I am going to pick it up again cause this is the first step in order to be able to sell ebooks at some point heheh

I like digital painting the most, because I like the idea of not dealing with lines, and it feels good to paint. I should screenshot a first attempt at a mountain following a YouTube Rebelle 7 tutorial! #painting #art #learningart

Besides ants, what have you been drawing?
