One Finnish phrase I really love is:

"Hänellä ei ole kaikki muumit laaksossa."

Translated literally, it means "S/he does not have all the Moomins in the valley". The English equivalent would be like describing someone as having "a few cards short of a full deck" and any such similar sayings.

去年到現在堅持得最久的事情大概就是在Duolingo 上練習芬蘭語？算上在舊手機裡的練習天數，滿打滿算應該接近一年。

沒想到Duolingo的芬蘭語練習內容開發得如此之少，到後面完全是複習之前打卡的內容。這個軟件最為詬病的是學習者單純靠習題來揣摩各類語言規則，為了通過率往往知其然不知其所以然，最後只是無效打卡。

一開始確實是從一堆錯誤中記住正確的答案，後面開始系統學習後就分析每道習題的語法點。Duolingo就幾個話題的學習單元，到了一定程度後就無法學到更多內容。倒是一開始記了不少單詞。現在找到更適合下一階段的學習材料，就不再繼續打卡啦。

For those who *do* feel like using the news to improve their #Finnish, here’s a cool app, also by #yle, called Yle Kielikoulu. You can choose your level and it displays the news in Finnish with subtitles, providing translation for the words that are too difficult for you.

Translation is not contextual so it does get things wrong, but still an excellent resource to #learnFinnish
