Been staying up late rockin' tapes and rekkids this week. The dog lays at the foot of the bed and I think he enjoys the noise to be honest. We've been getting into:
No Knock - Imagine A World Without Landlords 7" - I erroneously listed this as "self titled" on my top 10 of 2024 list last week, but, to my credit, I cannot find that title anywhere on the record itself, only on promotional material. Take a look at the (very fucking cool) art and tell me if you think it's called "No Knock," please. I love this record. Nasty, fast, angry, bouncy.
Garth Brooks - In Pieces LP - A lot of his hits, a few deep cuts I'd never heard, and some filler. That song about his dad sucks.
Michael Jackson - Off The Wall LP - Absolutely zero filler. Banger from the opening note until the B-side groove runs out.
Sharp Pins - Radio DDR CS - I think this band will blow up big, but I appreciate that I can catch them in a record store or rehearsal studio for the time being. Extremely catchy power pop with great aesthetic direction and sartorial choices.
Failed Mutation - Demo 2013 CS - Kinda hard for me to reckon with this tape being 11 years old. They were a great live band and this tape does a good job at capturing 'em. Wish I had dubbed them a little louder though.
Tension Pets - Cubey EP - After I saw this band live, I affectionately described them as ""'Dare To Be Stupid by "Weird" Al' - the Musical - the Band" and I think that that's confirmed on the Cubey EP. Very weird and energetic and nice people all around.
