Duncolm as seen today from Cochno Hill. Not as high or as well known as Scotland's more famous mountain ranges, the Kilpatrick Hills none-the-less have their own distinct beauty. The name Duncolm means Fort of Columba, suggesting it may have once been home to an Iron Age Hill Fort, just like the nearby Dumbarton Rock.

The upper Clyde Estuary at Dumbuck Shoals as seen from the Kilpatirck Hills.

The black line running down the middle of the channel is the Lang Dyke Constructed in the 1770s by John Golborne, this feature was instramental in creating a navigable channel up the Clyde meaning ships could finally sail into Glasgow itself and be unloaded on the Broomielaw rather than twenty miles to the west in Port Glasgow.
