Heavy wear forming a lip on the side of a kerb on Balliol Lane in the Woodlands area of Glasgow. Such wear patterns are often put down to metal-rimmed cartwheels riding up onto the kerb while trying to manoeuvre down such narrow lanes. However, it's unclear whether such cartwheels would have been capable of wearing away solid stone.

West Acton. There's a lot of speculation about the significance of kerbstone markings (crosses, arrows, triangles, squares, or letters of the alphabet). Various theories have been proposed. They are stonemason's marks, information about the position of underground utilities, pilgrim guides, parish boundary markers, and Freemasons' signs. This CND logo fits none of those theories.
