Referendum, Grosso (president of the No Committee): “He lost those who didn’t want the law for everyone.”

“The Constitution has undoubtedly won, those who wanted to change the Constitution to weaken the guarantees of judicial independence and autonomy have lost, and therefore, in some way, jeopardized the principle written behind the backs of judges in the courtrooms: “the law is equal for all.” Enrico Grosso, honorary president of the “Just Say No” committee promoted by the National Association of Magistrates, said this commenting on the results of the referendum at a press conference at Libera headquarters.

Evangelical holy war: Why some Christians think Trump will end the world

Rhetoric about Donald Trump being divinely anointed and about to cause Armageddon indicate that U.S. policy is being promoted with violent religious fanaticism.

Okay, I've already had one knuckle-dragging moron accuse me of treason or something [1] because of that line about the Democrats being useless.

So I'll be perfectly, utterly clear here. This is the absolute, bare minimum that the Democrats in the US House and Senate need to do.

1. The Pentagon and White House submit a request for additional funding, to fight the illegal, undeclared, unconstitutional war Trump launched against Iran. Might be the $200 billion they're asking for now, might be less, doesn't matter.

2. The Democratic response is "No."

Not "Oh, can you get by with <lesser number>?".

Not "Well, we'll fund these acceptable parts so we don't get accused of not supporting the troops but we'll refuse these other parts".

Not grandstanding and delaying.

Not negotiating.

Not presenting counter-proposals to fund the war "their way".

Just "No."

Anything other than that is capitulation, playing into Trump's hands.

[1] His lack of argument was kind of hard to follow, to be honest, so I'm not sure what he was actually accusing me of. 🤷

No“.

“Would you like to get rid of the magistrates?”: the Anm committee relaunches Bartolozzi’s phrase as a slogan for No.

The first version, “Would you want judges dependent on politics?” had caused a stir and even led to a complaint at the Public Prosecutor’s Office. But now, thanks to the unintentional intervention of Giusi Bartolozzi, the “Just Say No” committee promoted by the National Association of Magistrates has updated its referendum posters, republishing them on social media with an even more effective slogan: “Would you want to eliminate the judiciary? No.” This is a literal quote from the head of the ministry of Justice’s office, who during the same occasion – a debate on the Sicilian broadcaster Telecolor – went so far as to define magistrates as an “execution squad.”

The idea of transforming Bartolozzi’s remark into a message in favor of No came from the creatives at Proforma, the communication agency that follows the magistrates. The slogan “Would you want judges dependent on politics?” as the committee recalls in its post, “was severely attacked by supporters of Yes.” Giorgia Meloni also launched an attack on the posters – the first to appear at railway stations – during her end-of-year press conference: “If someone has in their DNA a search for the truth writes a lie to defend their campaign, this delegitimizes.” “Someone even filed a complaint against us for spreading false news, intended to disturb public order,” continues “Just Say No,” quoting the complaint presented to the Rome prosecutors by Giorgio Spangher, academic and president of the Yes committee promoted by the Radical Party (which also called for the seizure of the posters).

Then Bartolozzi arrived: “For weeks we were accused of exaggerating, claiming that the reform would never have subjected the judiciary to politics. Now the minister of Justice’s right-hand woman tells us that, on the contrary, we had been too cautious: the reform does not want to subject the judiciary to the executive, it wants to “eliminate” it.” In the meantime, we have updated our poster. After these words, it is even more (atrociously) faithful to reality,” concludes the committee.

I watched The Dunblane Tapes yesterday evening. Harrowing even after 30 years.
A fight to ban hand guns that was won against the entitled gun lobby.

Then I remembered that Reform UK Ltd ('in it for the money') are sympathetic to hand gun ownership.

And the US, which Farage idolises and seeks to emulate (the Trump/MAGA version), has had many mass school shootings over the years.
