St Pancras Old Church, Somers Town, London, August 2023.

Sitting between the old route of the buried River Fleet and the railway line into St Pancras Station, there has been a church on this site since Anglo-Saxon times.

People buried in the grounds include composer Johann Christian Bach (son of Johann Sebastian Bach), architect John Soane, and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft (mother of author Mary Shelley) - although she is now buried elsewhere.

Also of note is a collection of gravestones assembled by author Thomas Hardy (*Tess of the d*'*Urbervilles*) from when he was working as an architect during a time when part of the churchyard was being resumed to enable extra railway lines to run into St Pancras Station.
