Yeah, I watched it more and I hate it more.
Yes, I know most people are terrified of science, math, “stupid questions”, and losing face or seeming less socially important by showing imperfection.
I get it. I get you have to start from where people are at, rather than where you wish they were. I still fucking hate the obvious anti-thought of “this is bad but we won’t actually explain why beyond ‘it’s not precisely accurate enough’ and ‘people who try anyway shouldn’t’ etc.”
Literally just mention “hey this is inaccurate, but let’s still allow our brains to engage with the Wrong!Wrongest!!Think for two fucking seconds to wonder hm? Is there *nothing* we could learn from this? Or perhaps, like literally all analogies, could we note what is similar across the representations? Could we deliberately try to model it in a way as unlike the others as possible? What could we learn from comparing that?”
It’s almost like science communication needs to, in fact, involve science.
I literally gave myself a throbbing headache trying to dissect the entirety of why this pisses me off so much.
