Naseby is already known in the Curling world. It has an indoor curling rink attracting overseas and national competitions. It's history is deep and it's one of those quaint early settled towns found around the Maniatoto.

It now has a Dark Sky designation for its whole community.

International Dark Sky Places programme manager Amber Harrison said Naseby was the first place in the country to be designated a Dark Sky Community, where community participation, stewardship, and awareness of the pristine night sky was embedded in the culture of residents.
