The development and evolution of the eye is one of my favorite topics. I loved lecturing on it as it lead into so many nooks and crannies, from debunking claims about evolution by intelligent design, to thinking about the weeds in sheep fields that cause cyclopia, to studies of blind cave fish--all connected by some astounding molecular science.
