Anyone got any absolute favourite archives?? I’m writing about the gorgeous Newstead Abbey (again) & reminded of a lovely day in the The National Archives at Kew, grappling with this beast of a document 😍

This itemised inventory of the Abbey reveals that as well as consuming LOTS of cheese, the 4th Lord Byron & his wife Frances loved gin, rowing boats, & getting their hair done 🍸💅
