🤡 Ah, nothing like the trusty ol' macroeconomic analysis to tell us what we already know: populists wreck economies! 🎉 Groundbreaking stuff from two years ago, now with an award to boot! 🏆 Clearly, "winner" means predicting the blindingly obvious with flair. 🌟👀

@GottaLaff @TomShafShafer we’ve been seeing this level of disfunction in Congress for about a decade or so. It would’ve been great to solve some of issues that in hindsight were possible:

- Federal legislation to enshrine abortion as a right.

- A solution to the yearly debt ceiling quagmire.

@berkes I always found it funny that while the sharing economy was supposed to be about "consumer-to-consumer" economics, the go-to examples were usually Uber and AirBnB.

In #Hindsight2020 it's pretty obvious the effect would be that these companies acting as 'middle men' would end up optimizing their profits by squeezing both the 'consuming' and the 'producing' side.

Do we have any examples of scalable 'marketplaces' that avoid this problem?

We should totally do a #Hindsight2020 tag for highlighting and learning from our past mistakes.
