steve mookie kongMasters of the Universe (2026) was really fun! The thing that makes it so fun and likable was the humor and campiness. Masters of the Universe doesn't take itself too serious and that makes it delightful. This movie is a classic summer blockbuster that is all charm and spectacle.
I liked a cameo by an old timer that apparently no one in my audience knew who he was and what the significance of his cameo was.
Amazon owns MGM, the studio that produced this movie, and Amazon made sure to remind the audience of that with a very cringy showing of an Amazon delivery truck.
The visual effects adds to the charm of the movie with their old skool look -- I'm not sure if it was intentional or budget limitations, but it works. The same can be said about the costumes, some of them looked retro old skull.
Nicholas Galitzine was a goofball in the movie and it works well. Jared Leto's voice was unrecognizable as Skeletor. He's actually really great as Skeletor. Visually, Skeletor was well done, I loved how expressive they made his skull.
The score from Daniel Pemberton and Brian May (Queen) is fantastic! May's guitar solos were awesome.
There is a mid-credits scene hinting at a sequel. If the sequel is as absurd and irrelevant as Masters of the Universe, sign me up!

The OG-Man: Yuri fan/blogger#HeMan #MastersOfTheUniverse. 80s cheese in a PG-13 world. They knew exactly who the target audience was for this movie, went all in and I am so grateful. Had a blast. Plot is very simple but it works. It's a must for fans of the franchise or even people who like fun and intense adventures. 8/10
