I have a busy rest of the year and will take a pause on #HamTalk until January. If someone feels inclined to take up the mantle until then they are welcome to, though nobody has to.
Sorry for missing #HamTalk tonight. We decorated for Christmas today and then had guests over for dinner and games.
@ingalls #HamTalk A5 I prefer asynchronous forms of communication (e.g. store and forward packet) to nets.
@ingalls @max_in_somer #HamTalk A3 Our club does not participate in any long duration events (our in-town field day site with-in easy driving distance of anything one might need does not count) so I've never had to prepare for one.
@ingalls @max_in_somer #HamTalk A2 In our area we don't "deploy" or participate in any long duration events.

#HamTalk A1 I'm checking in from EN16. The rig I use most often is a mobile APRS station consisting of a TM-V71a, Moblilink, a tablet runninng APRSDroid, and an NMO mounted SignalStalk. And I have our local repeater on the non-data VFO.

@ingalls A4. Not me, but my son, when he was in high school ran into Dick Van Dyke helping out at a community event. My son (having watched Mary Poppins a million times): "Hey, are you Dick Van Dyke!" Dick Van Dyke's answer was: "What's left of him!" #HamTalk
@ingalls @max_in_somer A3. Although the hobby and demographics has points against it... definitely this is one where I think some general level of fitness is helpful, and also be aware of things like hydration, etc. Have seen more than one ham (used to sitting in the shack all day) overexert or put their health in risk under hot sun, having to walk all day, etc. Luckily nothing more than rest and things like water/AC/etc., #HamTalk

Everyone should check out the #FediFridayWinlinkNet ! It is a great place to practice using #Winlink and to connect with others who can help! Follow the #FFWN hashtag and look for weekly net announcements, and ask if you have questions. People love to help!
