This weekend #DimasMalay will be with us with some awesome Malaysian curry noodles - they sold out last time so come early!

A long time ago Steve from Bruhaha and Jojo from Dimas Malay were both in Bristol Punk Rock bands, so we've decided to pay homage to those heady days of travelling the country in a transit and have some (acoustic) punk rock for Saturday's #BruhahaBasementSessions with Benny Hayes (of Bristol punk band #Grebo) and Flunk, just some old guys doing some classic punk covers 👊

From an interview with Rich Deakin about Grebo

'It’s a bit ironic that one of the next big things after grebo had been written off was grunge…'

'...It also had the attraction of having some sort of ‘outsider’ cachet too. Although evolving around the same time, “uncool Leicester” could never compete with “cool Seattle”.'

“A Burst Of Dirty Thunder”: The Rise And Fall Of Grebo | The Quietus

Gaye Bykers On Acid, photo by Phil Nicholls The mid-80s in Britain was not a great time for rock music. The excitement of the NWOBHM had long since burnt out, neo-prog had merely succeeded in producing Marillion’s mawkish ‘Kayleigh’, and first-wave goth had crashed with the apparent dissolution of the Sisters Of Mercy. The indie […]

Seeing as it was released 35 years ago today(!), I think it's time to give Pop Will Eat Itself's excellent album "This Is The Day... This Is The Hour... This Is This!" a play.

Still on a #NedsAtomicDustbin kick. #NowPlaying is their 1995 swansong Brainbloodvolume. A commercial flop that signalled the creative end of the band (they still tour) but it's really underrated! Different, more mature and ambitious, but on a par with the first two classics. The timing was just off sadly. Britpop was in full swing in 95 and it was all about Oasis, Blur, Pulp and all the bandwagon jumpers. Neds were old news by then. https://open.spotify.com/album/4za1kYhqWh01h818UeKnYX?si=YraG3DpNQhi1uI3MKDloFw #grebo #AltRock #music #indie

I’m an unabashed and unreformed #NedsAtomicDustbin fan from the early 90s but I often forget how awesome they were. Been rocking their amazing debut God Fodder today after I picked up a cheap copy of an early 12 inch of theirs on the weekend. https://spotify.link/2qK40Z5U3Ib #NowPlaying #Indie #AltRock #Grebo #90s #music
Today I will mainly be listening to new albums from #SleaterKinney, #PACKS and #Vemod plus the remaster of #CarterUSM 1992 The Love Album #NowPlaying #Spotify #NewMusic #music #indie #punk #metal #BlackMetal #grebo

Wow, I'd completely forgotten about Ned's Atomic Dustbin. I was reminded today while reading Wikipedia articles on Pop Will Eat Itself and the short-lived grebo music genre.

About an hour ago I was #listening to their second album 'Are You Normal?', which I'm pretty sure is the one I owned on cassette tape in the late 90s;
