Grandson is on his way over. Mr L calls from his vehicle to let me know that Culver's has been chosen for dinner.
In the background, the excited 7yo shouts to me that he has new Pokémon cards. He's going to show me ALL of them! I can hardly wait.

Before we go to eat, they are going for a bike ride. Because we took their bikes out the other week, and if it's not snowing or raining, he wants to go riding with his Grandpa.

We have the wee one here at the moment. His father is attempting to convince him to have a nap. It's not working - he keeps running out to give with me or his grandda a 5 second hug before running off again giggling.

Grandparenting: Intergenerational Complexity, Sometimes Heartache

Grandparents are no longer the frail, apple pie-baking elders of yesteryear. They are healthy, engaged, working and may not be available to babysit. What next?

I've been barding hard IRL lately. Particularly with the grandkids. They don't yet know that coming up with songs on the fly is in any way unusual.

The toddler has flipped from yeah mode to no mode, so today's tune was about lots of circumstances where I say no, no, NO!

The grandson enjoyed his Polar Exploration class.
We let him order a cheeseburger, fries, and fruit punch for lunch.
He enjoyed the huge model train exhibit at the greenhouse. (Although he felt there should have been a gift shop so we could buy him a small train)
A cup of cocoa (with mini marshmallows) was enjoyed.
Sugar cookies are in the oven (made with grandpa). These will have kisses put on them when they come out of the oven. Not the peanut butter ones, because our little guy is allergic, and we do not want to visit ER.
While he's waiting for the cookies, he has started unloading the dishwasher. He just might train-up his grandpa for me, yet! 😉

#GrandParenting! One grandparent is crocheting with Eldest, one grandparent is explaining how the ceiling lights, remote control candles, and neighbors’ wireless dog fence work to Youngest. It’s so cute! Meanwhile, my wife and I get some relief from #parenting.

I just want to say that I have the best grandchildren in the world, and I know that you do to.

My 5 and 3-year-old granddaughters had a sleepover last night. As we were eating dinner and chatting, the 3-year-old asked, "Grandma, why you have no kids? 😀

I tried to explain that her mom had been and was my kid, but I think it was a bit too abstract still at her age.

It was Washing Day at Zoo Train Station, so all the Animals, Engines, Carriages, People, Helicopters and Other Blocks had a lovely, warm, soapy bath.
After they were nice and clean, they all lay down on a towel to get dry.
