The Israeli navy has begun intercepting boats from the Global Sumud Flotilla. Israeli media, including Channel 13, report that six vessels have already been stopped, among them the Alma, with more interceptions expected.
The flotilla’s seizure has sparked protests in Greece, Italy and Belgium, where demonstrators have taken to the streets in solidarity with Gaza.
Israel attacked al-Falah School, which had been sheltering hundreds of displaced people in Gaza’s Zeitoun neighbourhood, killing at least six people, including Palestinian Civil Defence member Munther al-Dahshan.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says it has been forced to suspend operations at its Gaza City office and relocate staff to southern Gaza because of the intensification of Israeli military operations.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani told Al Jazeera that the Gaza peace plan put forward by US President Donald Trump meets the key goals set by mediators – halting killings and displacement."

Global Sumud Flotilla sails past Madleen interception point
In a post on the Telegram channel of the Global Sumud Flotilla, the group has said that they’ve gone beyond the point where the Madleen flotilla earlier this year was intercepted by Israeli forces and that despite what they’ve said are attempts by the Israeli military to intimidate them, they “sail on with renewed resolve to break the siege, deliver aid, and uphold our mission of non-violent solidarity with the people of Gaza”.
“Everyone is currently safe. We are beyond the point where the Madeleine was intercepted. Still, we remain vigilant,” the statement said.

Tajani and Fidan address Gaza flotilla situation, stress avoiding escalation
Italy and Türkiye’s foreign ministers, Antonio Tajani and Hakan Fidan, have exchanged a phone call in which they discussed developments across the Middle East.
In a post on X about the call, Tajani said Rome and Ankara are “closely following the matter of the #Flotilla headed to Gaza” and said “The priority remains avoiding escalation.”
Flotilla edges closer to Gaza, activists remain determined despite fears of overnight interception
Samuel Rostøl, an activist who is part of the flotilla, tells Al Jazeera that they’re still “going strong” and that they’re “getting closer”.
He adds that they expect to be intercepted overnight, but that the members of the flotilla intend “to do our best to reach Gaza, we are determined, hard-working and willing”.
Another activist aboard the flotilla called Shifaa posted this video on TikTok echoing the concern that Israel is likely to board the ships overnight.
Spanish PM Sánchez: Spanish flotilla members pose no threat to Israel
Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has told the Israeli government that Spanish members of the Gaza-bound aid flotilla “do not represent a danger or threat to Israel” and will receive full diplomatic protection from Madrid.
Speaking from Copenhagen on Wednesday at an EU Summit, Sánchez said he expects “Netanyahu’s government will not represent a threat to the flotilla either”.
Sánchez confirmed Spanish authorities are in contact with flotilla members.
Sánchez argued the mission would never have been necessary if Israel had allowed aid through. “This humanitarian mission would not have taken place if the government of Israel had allowed the entry of UNRWA and the distribution of aid” in Gaza, he said.

Italian trade union CGIL threatens general strike over possible Israeli attack on flotilla
The leader of Italy’s largest trade union, the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), has said they’re prepared to begin a general strike in the event that the flotilla is attacked by Israel, Il Messaggero, the Rome-based Italian newspaper, reports.
“In the face of a potential blockade, seizures, arrests – and I hope to stop there – we are ready to proclaim, in a timely manner, a general strike involving all workers, female and male, from all public and private sectors,” said Maurizio Landini, leader of the CGIL.
“An act of that nature in international waters would be an act of war against those who wish to carry out a mission to reaffirm peace,” Landini added.
