@markmccaughrean I listened to that this morning - so interesting to hear! One of those 500,000 #giantredwoods is at New Cross Gate station in London, olanrd by a rail worker a few years ago. Hope it will continue to thrive!

I have a soft spot for Albert Bierstadt's paintings that depict California's wilderness as he found it in the 19th century. The composition is romanticized but overall the elements of this painting - including the size of the trees - are realistic.

The biggest trees in the world are hiding in northern CA... and they are being gatekept. I went off the trails and found one that is slightly bigger (probably) than General Sherman. I didn't even know these existed until recently. Check out the video.
