I spent the last week at #gartnerapps in Las Vegas. Lots of fascinating talks, including a great keynote by [at][email protected]. Nearly all of them were about GenAI somewhere in the SDLC or DevOps pipeline—even those outside the AI track.
It's going to be really interesting to see which of the players survive, which are devoured by megacorps, and those which have ideas that outlive their viability as organizations.
Perhaps the biggest gap: social impact analysis. I heard almost nothing about sourcing concerns or climate justice. Given the expected portion of computing and energy resources that will be consumed by GenAI and other high performance computing within just a few short years, it's frightening to think that the well-being of yet another generation will be treated as a cost of doing business.
