1944 Fritz Eichenberg illustrated edition of Tales of Edgar Allan Poe arrived today. Not only stunningly rendered, in good condition, a chunky book and got at a great bargain price but I found information about the original owner online. He was a Dean of a drama college, has a theatre in Wisconsin named after him but sadly died aged only 56 of Leukemia.
I really like finding inscriptions and other ephemera in second hand books.

Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite novels and I really like the illustrations of Fritz Eichenberg, so pleased to have picked up this 1943 edition in great condition for a bargain £4.

(There's an accompanying edition of Jane Eyre but alas that wasn't available for a steal)
