Forsyth County, Ga has only reported early voting tallies so far (and they may not be representative, though it's been within about 3% of the totals in the last 3 elections).

In the 2024 General, Trump got ~65% of the vote. The only other county wide Republican office was the 7th District US House Seat (Rick McCormick) who won with 70% of the vote.

Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson are only getting 57% of the vote in the county right now.

Obviously, this could change once election day votes are tallied.

(First batch of election day votes came in as a wrote this and Echols and Fitz Johnson are trending down with both into 56% with 66% of precincts reporting.)

edit: Total turnout was sub 20%.

So one interesting thing to note from the advanced voting totals for Forsyth County.

Trump got 76,933 votes.

The only other county wide race was for GA-7th District.

Republican Rich McCormick, who sucks, got 80,856.

3,923 conservative leaning advance voters couldn't stomach Trump

Harris also out performed the Democrat (Bob Christian) running in the 7th district by 4,378 votes.

No reports yet.

It's funny how peoples perceptions of development in Forsyth county Georgia is totally divorced from what is actually happening in the county.

You would think that the county has exploded the amount of apartments over the last decade, drastically shifting the proportion of single family housing.

The reality is that, at most 7.7% of occupied housing in the county is multifamily.

85% of occupied housing in the county is Single Family Detached.

In 2012, Single Family detached accounted for... 88.5% and multifamily housing accounted for at most.. 5.6% of occupied housing.

So in a decade we went from 3,273 multifamily units of housing to 6,843 multi family units of housing, while adding ~30000 units of housing.

So for every apartment unit we built... we built 8 single family homes and 1 single family attached.

But when I point this out, I'm some kind of "radical socialist" by the "facts don't care about your feelings" types.

So this is what we deal with up in Forsyth County when it comes to any transit.

Todd Levent, a sitting county commissioner, screaming in all caps on a official county social media post.

Because I can't help myself, I read and sometimes respond to comment on facebook posts made by local paper promoting some of their stories.

The topic of the day? Should Forsyth county allow a 300 unit apartment complex and retail area be built near existing retail and an elementary school. It's an bit of a oddball area too because it has decent connectivity due to existing and future multi use paths.

The comments are pretty typical. "The county has too many apartments!!!" ,. "Too much density" , "THey Are goiNG TO TURn Us IntO gwInnETt CoUnTY!!!!"

So I went and did the math.

Since 2020 (my data source gets iffy for earlier dates) Forsyth county Ga has issued permits for the following.

6437 Single Family Detached Permits.

888 Single Family Attached Permits. (Duplex, Triplex, Fourplex)

23 Multi-Family Attached Permits (With maybe 883 housing units across 4 or 5 complexes).

It's amazing how utterly unsupported some folks perceptions are.

Forsyth County Ga joined the Atlanta Regional commission in 2021.

Everytime it's mentioned a bunch of locals inevitablly start claiming the ARC will turn Forsyth into "Atlanta" and the ARC is taking over and how we should leave it.

It's the same baffling logic behind refused the medicaid expansion.

Leaving the ARC or refusing to join it doesn't make it go away. It just removes our seat at the table. It won't change the economic geography of the county either.

Something really odd happened at the Sharon Forks Library in Forsyth County yesterday. It was apparently very busy (story time) when it had to be evacuated due to "suspicious activity".

Whatever it was, it generated a multi agency response 4+ police agencies and 3 (Forsyth, Hall, and Gwinnett) fire agencies.

They haven't given any details of the suspicious activity yet.

All I can think is a swatting or bomb threat.

UPDATE: Here's the latest on the investigation of 'suspicious activity' at the Sharon Forks Library

A Forsyth County Public Library location is closed due to a Forsyth County Sheriff's Office investigation.

#forsythCountyGa

Forsyth county doesn't need "smart city" technology, Forsyth needs development patterns which reducing housing costs, street designs that improve pedestrian safety, bike paths, and some basic transit.

Instead we are going to get smart kiosks which hoover up info and an autonomus vehicle test track next to the airtaxi landing pad at McFarland.

Why do some people insist on smart city technology in Forsyth County?

Despite disagreements over the topic of smart cities at a May 23 Board of Commissioners meeting, SmartPoint and Forward Forsyth remain optimistic about their effort to bring the technology industry to Forsyth County.
