Nikon to acquire RED in major camera shock
https://www.redsharknews.com/nikons-takeover-of-red-cinema-will-have-huge-implications

The real shock here, IMHO, is that anyone thinks Red is worth buying (the company or their cameras).
Red made good digital cinema cameras 15 or more years ago. But since then, they squandered their technological advantages, became increasingly shitty about patents, resorted to senselessly aggressive litigation, and enshittified their accessories by doing stuff like repackaging consumer-grade hardware and flogging it as overpriced proprietary media.

The announcement that Nikon is taking over RED.com LLC sent shockwaves through the industry. It will send shockwaves through camera development as well.
