Yesteday I went to a gig of an old chilean punk rock band called Fiskales ad-hok, a band that begun its journey in the middle 80s, in the last years of Pinochet's dictatorship. They hadn't played for over a year, and this was a huge event: more than 1,500 people.. this band usually plays a lot: in bars, theaters, schools, universities, sindical acts, political meetings, etc. In all cities in Chile and they always succeed in every one of their dates. They have a strong severe and critical speech, with heavy sounds that sometimes meet more metal than punk, but, always with a clear and straight punk anarchist content.
I admire their carreer and music since I was 13, so, they have around 40 years of history as a band. Sadly, the old punk scene and crowd hasn't change... the same old drunk, disorderly, annoying, loud, stoned and lacking limits people. Only this time, instead of being 15 years old, they all were 50 or 55. What a pathetic spectacle. And I'm so sorry for them and for the message the band spread. Plus: their sound sucked, 'cause -like always- I assume some relative of the band took control of the live sound mixing and it was a total disaster. Of course people didn't give a sh1t, they all were drunk and/or stoned so, it didn't matter or they didn't notice at all.
Don't get me wrong. This band is one of my favorites, and two albums of their discography have a special place in my top 20 best albums of all times to me. But this was enough. I've seen Bad Religion a few times live (last time was in 2024), as well as other punk rock bands such as Green Day, Ska-P, Misfits, 2 Minutos, etc... and, ok, the crowd always behave like they were 15 (being 40-50), but at least with some respect and self control. Ok, maybe that time with Misfits the show ended after 30 mins because of tear gas inside the gym where we were because of people trying to get in without paying... It was 2001. But still: yesterday was chaos.. emotional and technical chaos. It's time to say goodbye to Fiskales live. Yesterday was chaos.. it's time to say goodbye to Fiskales live.
Fortunately, the opening act was in charge of another huge punk band called Los Miserables. People love them too, and they made a much better show than the main act, sorry to say that but they sounded better and played better. More professionalism, and -why not- less drugs.
Here is a 1 minute song of a powerfuk album.of Fiskales ad-ok from Chile.
Lyrics in english:
"Always promoting disobedience
Reason is better than force
Your authority as a father, cop, or businessman
Will never give you control over our thoughts
This isn't a love song
Nor a revelation
I just want to awaken your conscience
The revolution starts in the head
Even if they throw me water
And beat me with sticks
Treat me like trash
And tie my hands
I'm going to be very stubborn
Because now I decide
When the f*ck I start living my life
This isn't a love song
Nor a revelation
I just want to awaken your conscience
The revolution starts in the head
(Of the d1ck!)"
