I spent a decent amount of money recently on a #FirstPrinting of #JohnUpdike's 1960 #RabbitRun, the book that is anecdotally known as the official birth of the "post-Modernist" (now #Postmodernist) movement of '60s youth. We associate the movement with hippies so much that it's somewhat shocking to see that, when a mainstream company wanted to promote a hip young '60s Postmodernist writer at the end of the Eisenhower years, they went with skinny-tie Op Art instead of bell-bottom psychedelic art.
I had a nice moment of literary kismet today; after @benbrown reminded me earlier this week that I've been meaning to re-read #WilliamGibson's '80s #cyberpunk #Sprawl trilogy for the first time since the books originally came out, today I came across a #FirstPrinting of 1988's #MonaLisaOverdrive for eleven bucks at #Powells in #Chicago's #HydePark (not affiliated with the much more famous store in Seattle). See image alt text for many more details. Now let's find the 1st Ed. of Neuromancer!
