Look, it serves me right for using an exploitative company like Amazon, and Warner Bros streaming service and I should feel bad.
However ... I just spent an hour on a WhatsApp chat with HBO Max Australia trying to get my subscription working. I had subscribed through my Amazon Fire TV, though it's not an Amazon Prime Channel, but HBO Max has been available in Australia since March.
Uninstall, reinstall, clear cache, log in, log out, reset, factory reset, reinstall, different email, update Fire TV, log in using QR code, log in using password etc.
In the end, HBO Max can't help me because apparently my HBO Max subscription through Amazon Fire TV appstore is a US subscription not an AU subscription - I don't even know how that works because it's an Amazon.com.au account and the Fire TV knows its in Australia.
I mean ... that's a bit of a cop out. You'd think they could do something, but nope. As I said, I should feel bad for even subscribing, and using Amazon.
Back in "the old days" something like this would result in "Sorry about that, we'll set you up with a complimentary subscription so you can get started until we sort the billing issue because we can see you've paid."
