19th Century Science and Culture As we begin the journey of #FindingHoneyman, we start with a timeline of David Honeyman - the first Curator of the Nova Scotia Museum. This timeline provides an opportunity to discover links between between life events and historical contexts.

David Honeyman entered University of #StAndrews in 1834 studying languages, and then theology in #Glasgow and #Edinburgh from 1836-39. Honeyman's earlier schooling (1830) had been at School Wynd, 6 South Lindsay St, photo.

Later in 1845, he moved to 350 Perth Road, and then to 62 Murraygate. On April 3, 1846, Honeyman gave lectures at Watt Institution - about the Hebrew language.

In August 1848 - David and Mary Honeyman were on a ship from Liverpool to Halifax #NovaScotia and they experienced rough seas from a #hurricane - this storm in 1848 was one of earliest storm tracks published in 1873 #findinghoneyman

@SciConf Your work looks interesting. I have been working with William Knight in Ottawa - looking at Nova Scotia’s activity at the 1883 International #Fisheries Exhibition. During this #histsci research I located a previously unknown photograph of delegates attending a field excursion on the Thames.
