After our workshop at #NordiCHI in Aarhus in 2022, two events of the #FermentingData collaboration with @magdalena and @lozross took place at TU Berlin in 2023:

First a Fermenting Data Canteen in February at the Hybrid Lab, where taste wheels were used to work on data models for fermentation, and in June a Fermenting Data booth at the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften.

At the second event we shared a pavillion with Edible Alchemy and the Bacteria Bar. I was there to represent the Fermenting Data project and engage with visitors on how to digitally record and curate the knowledge around bacteria cultures.

On a large screen, materials – photographs, quotes and screenshots – from previous workshops were shared as a conversation starter. Snippets from the conversations around the food and drinks that could be tasted, as well as on fermentation as cultural heritage were recorded on paper.

Impression from #Fermentingdata workshop with information management and design students last week in Hannover. Workshop was organized by @magdalena , @lozross and me.

The students had the task to model a data ontology for a Wikibase instance, based on tabular data/capta from previous workshops and fermentation processes.
