Gestern war ich zufällig in #Erle bei #Raesfeld. Hab da noch einen Abstecher zur #Femeiche gemacht. Wikipedia sagt die sei 600 bis 850 Jahre alt, vor Ort liegen Flyer die bis 1000 Jahre vermuten. Unumstritten einer der ältesten Bäume Deutschlands.
Beeindruckender Ort, auch wenn der Baum wirklich ein Greis ist. Der Stamm besteht nur noch aus Fragmenten, ohne Stützen würde vermutlich alles in sich zusammenfallen. Nicht gerade majestätisch, aber doch ein schöner Anblick.

Today I would like to introduce you to a very dear new friend: an oak tree. The '#Femeiche' in Erle in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Borken is one of the oldest oaks in Germany, with an age of around 1,000 years. For more than 100 years, the #oak, which has been marked by lightning strikes, storms, human influences and its great age, has been registered as a natural monument. And people are taking care of their oak. Nowadays, the remains of this once gigantic #tree are supported by spiles. Completely preserved, the trunk would have a circumference of about 14 meters. This makes it the thickest oak in Germany.

Look at how this old tree blossoms. She is still full of life.
