So the feedback looper didn't work - it had power, switch turned the led on and off but not outputting any sound.
Thought it was probably a dodgy connection on the switch but they were fine, all connections and solder joints were ok too.
Turns out it was the return jack. The tip connection wire protruded through the hole more than I thought and was touching the case. Sorted that and now it's working. Phew!

Just finished the feedback looper, not the neatest soldering. Need to double check joints and for any shorts before testing.
Lessons for next time - colour code wiring to make it easier to trace; adjust the angle of the sockets to make soldering easier; get a centre punch so drill bit doesn't wander all over the case.
I reused a broken soul food pedal case which made it a bit fiddler than it needed to be.
