Pictures of the finished #effikaAtomicStarburst quilt! I had a lot of fun with this one: using fabric I bought because I loved it and getting to do just enough of each technique or #quilting motif to not get bored of it.

Pattern is Atomic Starburst by Violet Crafts, and the feature fabric in the diamonds in Tula Pink Fairy Dust. The backing is Bernatex Cosette in Azure.

RIP Joann Fabrics, the big box store we all knew was bad for our local stores but still didn't want to suffer a venture capitalist death

Anyway! Back to #quilting and the #effikaAtomicStarburst project now that I have had a two-week break due to the oak pollen making me unable to look down without stuffing a kleenex up my nose & taking 2x my meds, and also sewing my husband a cape in 3 days (pics later)

Don't worry-- I still spent my Saturday night listening to the radio and working on a quilt, even though I have two video games I'm playing. I went with a thread that varies between hot pink and red for the quilting on the prints: they needed something bright! #quilting #effikaAtomicStarburst

Getting so much #quilting done watching the speed skating mass start! Finished the last of echoing the stars on the front. My points weren't perfect so I've gone for a hand-drawn looseness to the shape. Next I will add starbursts to the blank diamonds. This is the back of the quilt and I'm really happy with how nice it looks on the back, too! #effikaAtomicStarburst

I had no desire to learn free-motion quilting but I have 460 sharp turns to do on this quilt and I think perhaps the next project will be learning how to do that #quilting #effikaAtomicStarburst

Getting a lot of sewing done today watching Olympics! The #effikaAtomicStarburst quilt top is complete and now it's on to basting. Backing fabric hangs below it on the chair. It's a Bernatex print and bled/crocked so much that after 7 washes I've accepted I might be turning the rest of the quilt sky blue. #quilting

All the starbursts are pieced for #effikaAtomicStarburst! Time to put the diamonds & strips together... Or I can get the background (and maybe borders) cut & pieced for the temperature quilt. (Or I can start hemming the pile of pants that is creeping into the frame on the left.) We'll see how much fabric I feel like wrangling tomorrow! #quilting

Grabbed a pre-cut I've wanted for a while (Tula Pink Fairy Dust 10" stacker) from the Stash Fabrics sale yesterday (though I had to wait a few minutes as it seems all of us clicking on the email crashed the site). I immediately changed my mind about what quilt I want to do next and will start on Violet Craft's Atomic Starburst!

With so many parallelograms to cut I put painters tape on my ruler versus buying a new tool. (I didn't like the existing 60° line.) #quilting #effikaAtomicStarburst
