This is a really fascinating paper on a systematic search for #DysonSpheres using the large galaxy survey data thats available. The results are very interesting indeed. #Astronomy No it's not proof of advanced Alien civilisations. But it looks like a neat bit of survey work at least to these layperson eyes.

No actual news. Just the ongoing search for Dyson spheres. Excess infrared radiation is the tipoff, with a handful of candidate sightings identified by Project Hephaistos. Real tipoff will be when a Dyson sphere is listed with Sotheby’s.

I just finished watching the movie #Moonfall starring Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson. It is currently rated 5.2/10 at IMDb. I can tell you, I am _not_ going to raise that rating.

That is a great looking and very creative story about #DysonSpheres and megastructures in space. The execution of that story is horrible.

There are way too many loose ends in this one to even begin picking this apart properly.

Just stay away from it, please.

Remember the recent discovery of seven stars with unusual spectral energy distributions, initially identified as possible Dyson Spheres?

Now, we, a group of SETI astronomers at the University of Manchester (@OfficialUoM) propose an alternative: the strange characteristics of these stars may come from ‘hot DOGs’—rare, dust-rich galaxies located behind the stars, contaminating their light in the infrared.

IMHO #DysonSpheres and #Superflares are pretty incompatible. I seriously doubt anybody would consider them commercially viable. Even Elon probably would not build one. And, even worse, no insurance would cover things like superflares.
