You‘re a researcher investigating large digital platforms? This talk at #39c3 by @lkseiling #DSA40 and David Wegmann gives you a heads up about all the types of headaches you’ll get asking for data access.

Amendment to Art.12, par. 5 #GDPR in the #Omnibus Proposal Undermines Evidence-Based #Policymaking

To: @EUCommission #EuropeanParliament @EUCouncil

This seemingly technical change would make data donation research impossible. While access to platform data as set out in Art. 40 of the #DSA is on its way to become functional, data donations are one of the very few access modalities to study the impact of #digital #platforms in the #EuropeanUnion and beyond

Open Letter: Omnibus – DSA 40 Collaboratory

My highlight of the week: #DataAccessDays #DSA40 on Thursday. I loved being back with the research community, seeing so many familiar faces, and filling up my nerd energy levels. While obstacles to platform research persist, the creativity of the community is really inspiring. Much to be done. Much in the works.

And: who will be at the Data Access Days event in Berlin tomorrow?

Happy to chat and learn about new research, obstacles to do that research, and any work done around decentralized networks.

#DSA #DSA40

We just published our first #DSA40 data access newsletter!

Every month we will use it to provide you with
👥 updates on the Collaboratory
📜 infos on platform data access developments
🗞️ news relating to various (potentially systemic) risks

With every issue, we also focus on a specific risk. This time, we discuss image-based sexual abuse and how it blurs the lines between platforms and risk categories.
