The next game in my ‘running mods in #Linux’ series is #DragonQuestXI! Luckily, it was super easy as I just had to download, extract, and move files. I did this on Windows last January but barely played the game all year. I did remember having a problem with objects shimmering when I moved around, and the same thing was happening this time. I looked into it and found an .ini file that allows you to tweak settings which fixed the problem and allowed me to fine tune things even more. With all these mods installed the game looks so good but it really pushes my RTX 3060Ti to its limits.

In other #DragonQuest news, I tried the demo of #DragonQuestVIIReimagined the other day. While it looks like a great game, I don’t need another DQ title on my plate. I’ve been working on DQ11 for years and definitely want to finish that first (I’m at the beginning of Act 2). I also have a playthrough of DQ5 mobile going at a glacial pace.

I'm about 5 hours into the 2D version of #DragonQuestXI and while it isn't perfect, I'm liking it significantly more than the 3D version. I like being able to get around maps and battles much faster, and I'd rather have random encounters. It also helps that I turned on some draconian quests, so the game is actually putting up some resistance.

Went to some already visited ruins with a locked door, got another orb
Got to some frozen city, Veronica bullied me
