@stella technically those are #fins (not #flippers, because #dofflins have hand-like bones in them, but #shorks don't)...
Also shorks are soft in real life in the direction of swimming, but extremely coarse in the opposite direction, as their skin with microscales are designed to improve efficiency by generating micro-turbulences, since laminar flow would mean there is no transfer of kinetic energy...
- Simiar to why modern liquid coolers have micro channels as laminar flow prevents heat transfer...
