Just finished setting up my new lab computer.
It took me bloody 2.5 (working) days to do so. Unbelievable.
Good job MS / Win11!
LLMs will never take the place of human expertise. Period.

Last company I did forensics and incident response for was a nightmare. Every week we worked the same incidents. Engineering refused to implement new security controls and you could never be sure that an attack was fully mitigated.
Finally, we'd had enough and had around a 300% turnover rate. As a result, we have a survivors group. Several of us got together for dinner and my old director gave me a late Christmas present.

My publisher is running a promo today where if you order either of my #infosec non-fiction books, Hands-on Incident Response and Digital Forensics, or Security Operations in Practice, direct from them, you can take 40% off your order with promo code CYBERBF22. Lots of other titles from great authors also covered in this promo, here they all are: https://shop.bcs.org/store/221/search/workgroups?Subjects%5B0%5D.Type=24&Subjects%5B0%5D.Value=Cyber+security
Fun fact: I believe Security Operations in Practice may be the first book ever written pretty much exclusively on a Kitsap Transit fast ferry
Looking forward to this.
