On Tuesday afternoon, a group of approximately five individuals set fire to a Red bus near the University of Santiago, Chile (Usach), at the intersection of Matucana and Romero streets.

According to witnesses who spoke with police, the individuals emerged from inside the university campus and erected barricades at the location, consisting of burning tires.

They then intimidated the driver and passengers of the Red bus, forcing them off the vehicle.

The bus was set ablaze with an accelerant, and it burned completely. Afterward, some of the masked individuals re-entered the Usach campus, while others escaped through the street.

Preliminary information indicates that firecrackers and Molotov cocktails were thrown at the scene.

Traffic was suspended on Matucana Street.
