I showed my Mom one of my baby photos today.
She asked me who it was.
I told her it was her first child.
She said he looked happy.
I said I was.

I may not be around much the next few days. My father passed away on Friday, 17 days after my brother. Both had dementia.

I was trying to post a bit to cope, but it is starting to really hit me.

He’s been okay for an hour now and ate well. A new caregiver just came so he’s happy to be in his room “playing” PlayStation at present. Reality is the caregiver plays but they talk through each move. I’m looking forward to possibly 2 whole hours of no yelling! Realistically he’ll have 2-3 more spells of rage ranting before 9 pm but I’ll take any grace periods! #DementiaSucks #AlzheimerSucks

This year has been a crap year so far, to say the least.
It's been challenging for both my mental and physical health.
Dawn's dad's dementia is slowly getting worse, and I need to be there to support her.
Then there was our Charlie passing away in March, just 15 years old.

Went to see Dawns dad again today, he seems brighter and more with it than of late, but it's only a temporary thing, tomorrow he could be back in a confused state of mind again.

Took the old boy out today in his wheelchair for some sea air, good to see him smiling.

Having a spouse with dementia has to be the most heart-breaking thing in the world. #dementia #dementiasucks

@arose62 I’m so sorry.

That happened with my Mum’s parents. When her Step Mum “woke up dead” (!) one morning, we suddenly found out that she’d been covering for Granpa for a long time, and he had to move out of his home within two months, into a high care facility.

As a WWII veteran, he also had the idea firmly entrenched that it was his duty to help his fellow “prisoners “ to escape, and was very canny in watching the nurses ...

Until one day, that stopped too.
