So you may be wondering what I've been up to, and, to be honest, I've just been sad and depressed and sleeping.
I did send presents to folks in Gaza, because - well, because. Also to some indiginous(sp) folks in North America.
But the world is still very … not well, at all, and not enough people are doing things to make it better. Loads of folks who are trying to make things better are running out of spoons, and many who just want it to go away are just going to… eventually, get their wish. They'll have their faces eaten by the leopards, and then the leopard face eating party people will do their "I can't believe the leopards ate MY face" thing.

cripes I am tired I don't know why I'm so tired.
I did get some things done today but I'm just too tired to do any code.
And I was wanting to get some done when I got up but I just… wasn't awake enough. Got shopping done and washed clothes and didn't do any work…
tommorrow is a work day but hopefully it's not that bad because people will be on break.

Ok so hi Um Thursday went well enough with the work bits and I might have done some code and forgotten to talk about it because of going to sleep very tired…
um, no. Not according to the git log.
hi again So Friday was … I got thru all the meetings and everything and then I just wiped out and crashed, woke up, did the remainder of work, and it was 20:00 and I crashed.

Tommorrow is a big day I have to do a really important thing at work which … well, has been brewing for a year, so…
today was a bit … well this whole week SHOULD have been about that but some other things got thrown in as emergency…
and well… so… I kinda needed to cool off today and didn't manage any code.
I hope to be able to celebrate tommorrow's work being done with some code when I get home…

height So today, the hexes got height.
It looks "ok" - not great, but then, we are scaling quite a bit, and I'm not using a palette I'm just using random colors.
Ok, the dirt isn't random, and I should come up with a better 'grass' or 'edge' setup, but… to be honest this is a bit "not really a thing we should be worrying about since there are limitations on things like color for some machines I'm gonna target."

whoops forgot to post So today I actually did some code - I redid the graph setup so now it's able to be either pointy top or flat top.
And I forgot to post, and I should have been in bed an hour and a half ago.
(But someone asked about keyboards and then I got into that … I'm a keyboard addict. So. Yeah.)

so the Windows 11 machine is dropped off So that's over, but it involved getting up WAAAY too early and well
I haven't had proper rest or food today and my brain is not really in top shape for anything but sleep, which I will now do because it is midnight.
This week will be difficult but I will get something accomplished tommorrow after I return home.
I would like to be home earlier than normal, and, well…

and I realized earlier that's totally a thing that is really possible, in a sensible world.
I just happen to not be in that situation right now, but it's fine. I don't have to beat myself up over it. I will get to more code … possibly not tommorrow because of helping others.
But helping others is not a reason to beat yourself up.

yuckage A friend's friend needs to have a new windows 11 setup because of insanity of the planet, and he asked me to help and I didn't want to really today after work because work was very "oh ok sure I'll learn a new thing and watch it for 2 weeks sure that sounds like a good use of my time rather than the work I should be doing for that very same customer"

tired But… did get the basics done for "turning the hex to be pointy-top" and the grid filled with pointy-top hexes.
Took a bit as the geometry is slightly different as left-to-right is a bit different from right-to-left in this perspective.
(which needs to be possible to do with 8 bit character mapping, as well as vector type plotting.)
I'll get some better rest before working on tommorrow's bit, which will be adjusting all the items for this mapping, and … possibly doing that by changing values rather than rewriting everything (i.e. determine if we are doing pointy, or flat, top… and then using the correct offsets.)
