I can't believe I'm going to say this.

My partner has been binge watching the show Daria and I've seen quite a few episodes in the process.

Mind you, I hated much of my time in highschool, but that show made me miss aspects of Highschool for the first time since... ever?

Every time I rewatch Daria I feel the need to pause on the non-canon shot of Daria, Jane, Jodie and Andrea in a rock band that appears in the end credits of Is It Fall Yet?.

I would have loved to have seen the alternate universe where those four became closer friends, whether or not rock band action would have been part of that story.

I'm not sure if I can finish this rewatch of #Daria all the way to the end, because a few episodes back I started thinking about what it would be like if they used the same script, but Roseanne was the voice of Daria, and now I'm too distracted translating every line into Roseanne's voice in my head, and all of the philosophical rabbit holes it takes me down, to pay attention to what's going on.

I'm so mad at #Daria. Jane got a job painting copies of masterpieces, and it pays well, and Daria spends the whole time calling her a sellout. Jane is a high school girl. She's getting paid to deeply study great paintings. Daria's such a buzzkill.

Helen Morgandorffer needs to divorce the fuck out of Jake.(Season 4 Episode 8)

I would never forgive him for acting like an insane crybaby at the company retreat where they're going to decide if I'm partner or not. He's so pathetic I want to throw him off a cliff. What good is he to her? He's just an emotional rollercoaster/drag who sometimes "babysits" his children. Poorly.

I don't often bother to post about TV I actually like, do I?

I like this episode, it always feels like the start of the more serious, less zany era of Daria to me. I mean, there are definitely more serious and deep episodes scattered around throughout the show's whole run and I haven't, like, made spreadsheets or anything to figure out where the denser concentrations of seriousity lie, but intuitively this still feels like some kind of turning point.

Daria's interactions with Tad are really cute, and Tom looking back to Daria at the end... well it obviously heralds trouble ahead but it has a kind of sweetness to it as well.
