As I told you in my last post, I attended a workshop about cut collage lettering. It stroke a spark in me and I have more appetite for cutting and collaging. So I am choosing a word each day and I cut it out of coloured paper, gelli printed paper and other sorts of homemade collage papers. So far I have assembled five words. As I am only learning, there are flaws and errors but I don’t mind. With time I will get better. Most important is that I enjoy it immensely.

My first encounter with collage cut lettering. Four exercises from yesterday’s workshop with Francis Chouquet. A small exclusive group of people having a great time with knives, glue and coloured papers. We were encouraged to work intuitively without designing or planning. The purpose was to create organic and flowing letters. With too much perfection, the work looses its spontaneity and dies. And I completely relate to that. In my work in general, I always embrace intuition and spontaneity, the thing called automatic drawing/painting etc.
