David J. Atkinson@funnymonkey Agreed, but I suggest that to shut it down it will take a lot more than talk and lawsuits. In the five years it takes to resolve a lawsuit it will be far too late. Patriots have weeks to act decisively. I do not believe we have already lost.
We must acknowledge that Trump’s #insurrection (Musk, oligarchs, Christofascists) have now inflicted lasting damage to the United States. They intend to do a lot more damage too. Irrevocable damage. They are acting in complete opposition to the ideas on which our government is founded. Moreover, they are committing a highly visible disruptive physical attack on critical government infrastructure. We are individually and collectively also in real peril. It is only a small step for them to commit violence against people. They threaten individuals daily and since #Jan6 we know they can and will do it. This is real, not rhetorical nor not hypothetical.
Yes, we must follow all possible opportunities for political, judicial and social action to stop the insurrection. We must also pursue all other means because failure is not an option. The requires #counterforce. First, direct physical confrontation to regain control of the buildings and systems seized by the insurgents. Second, disruption of their leadership, their organizations and followers to make it impossible for the insurrection to continue.
Who will do this? I believe it is an obligation for everyone who has ever sworn an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Now is the time to make good on their commitment. Many more people are willing to support them in any way they can.
Once balance and the rule of law is restored, a state of tension will remain; nevertheless, balance is a prerequisite to peaceful resolution. The alternatives are far worse.
