[P] All of this was swishing about in my brain bucket because of Pickmon, which seems to be designed to teoll Nintendo and its fans. And I just remembered a childhood memory where I casually aaid "SEGA does what Nintendon't" because that's a funny troll. And it resulted in a Nintendo fan threatening to poison my food with anthrax. This was a kid, yes. Ninty fans have always been crazy, just in case youngers believe this to be a failing of modernity.

[P] I remember that, back in the day, Mega Drive fans could be pals with Amiga fans, PC fans, and loads of others. But it was Nintnedo against the world. It wss kind of like that evwrywhere. I mean, Nintendo has always been a masterclass at tribal brand marketing. Even now, with the Switch 2, suggesting that one won't buy it because it's too expensive can result in death threats. Ugh. Be better than that, Mastodon. No death threats, thanks.

[P] The SNES has to have superior hardware though because Nintendo fans be crazy. So any suggestion that a different machinw might do better? Hoo. If you really want to cause an explosion, mention AGA amigas and PC. I mean, the TurboGrafx 16 was hot shit with its hardware. I thiiiink it had a better processor than the MD, even? Just not enough marketing clout, though. But very good games. It's just funny to me, becauss of the tribalism.

[P] If I see Nintendo fans bullying SEGA fans (because Nintendo fans be crazy), I'll just casually drop the Gunstar Heroes interview and leave. The one that says that the SNES is too weak for GH. And the Nintendo fans will go batshit ballistic (because Nintendo fans be crazy). It was more that the SNES valued colours on screen and flashy colour modes, whereas the MD could do more sprites and faster movement (due to faster math, bus width et al).

[P] I mean, Chrono Trigger wss one of my favourite RPGs, I dug that game. I just prefer variety over polish. I acknowledge that there was jank, but there were also games unlike those of any other system. The marriage of arcade and Amigw poerts early on lead to something delightfully odd. I think it's a matter of having a preference for that odd, and a tolerance for the jank. But... Nintendo fans be wacky. I sometimes can't help myself.

[P] On a lighter note, I thought the 16-bit console wars were silly. I mean, both consoles did things very differently. It's an apples to oranges comparison. I preferred the Mega Drive because SEGA took indie devs under their wing that Nintendo turned their nose up at. This meant that Nintendo's offerings were highly pokished, big budget affairs whereas SEGA's were experimental and really weird. I liked the latter better. That, for me, was the diff.
