Me - I'm just gaining root access to my Telstra Smart Modem; so I can get rid of Telstra's feature limitations, and permit the use of IPv6 on my home network (by enable a DHCP-PD v6 Server for my UniFi network).
Turns out this thing runs Open-WRT.
I'm officially on a nice long holiday break and I hereby challenge myself to do as little #computerTouching as I can between now and January 5
In the "just 15 more minutes, I know I can get this working" sense... that can easily turn into a whole day for me
the last time I set up a raspberry pi you still had to monkey around with 'wpa_supplicant' to set up networking headlessly, kids these days have no idea how good they have it with this desktop app that lets you preconfigure wifi (and SSH with an authorized key) ahead of time
I swear to god I remember a Web 2.0 era article/demo about using css to style text in a consistent vertical pattern (as in, if you laid a page out on lined paper all of the text baselines would fall exactly on the lines) but either I am misremembering or something changed in css3
It seems like it's one of those things where, if you do find a question about, the responses tend to be "why do you want to do that, ur dumb"

I just published a new patch release of #stubble, which updates the #orgmode template to use the more idiomatic 'filetags' property 🪒
"You can compile rust to wasm!" always seemed mostly like a parlor trick because it's always ballyhooed as a way to write electron apps in rust 🤢, which to me still feels like taking a tank to the corner store for milk instead of just walking
...but if you can compile rust functions that use the image crate to client-side JS that seems pretty great because you can't use Sharp in the browser

I now have a new ISP, an new static IP address AND Nextcloud AND Forgejo sitting behind nginx.
Also got around to pulling a pile of probably dead disks off a stack and confirming their deadness using a handy USB mounter.
Recovered a few files to investigate later, blanked a couple of disks, and also got to hear some really lovely clicky spinning from very dead bits of kit
