I don't see the point of #SBC #computeModules when the #carrierBoards are almost never fully compatible with any two modules.

There should be a #carrierBoard standard so we can upgrade the CPU and Ram regardless of manufacturer or architecture.

Den Raspberry Pi gibt es auch als Compute Module für industrielle Anwendungen. Dessen vierte Auflage wird jetzt günstiger – die Fassung mit 8 GByte Hauptspeicher sogar um 10 US-Dollar. Bei der 4 GByte-Fassung des Compute Module 4 (CM4) spart man immerhin noch fünf US-Dollar. Das läppert sich zudem, wenn man die Platinen für seine Projekte gleich Kistenweise ordert. Für das Spitzenmodell CM108032 mit WLAN, 8 GByte Hauptspeicher und 32 GByte Flash liegt der Preis jetzt bei 85 US-Dollar. Die Preissenkungen betreffen nur das CM4, nicht die aktuellere und leistungsstärkere Fassung CM5. Zu den Gründen für den Rabatt macht der Hersteller in seiner Ankündigung keine Angaben. Die Raspberry-Pi-Entwickler wollen mit der Maßnahmen aber bestehende Projekte kosteneffizienter machen und gleichzeitig neue Projekte ermöglichen, die aufgrund der Kosten bislang nicht umsetzbar waren.
