I've written about this a few times before, but yeah, this post from @JuliusGoat is worth taking seriously. This is a really important aspect of fascism as a worldview (not only Christian fascism, although certainly that too), and it helps explain some things. I'm pretty beat and not really capable of being too articulate right now, so I'm linking an older thread here that goes into some basic details of the dynamics of fascists' frequently invoked understanding of history as an endless cycle that looks something like this: idyllic past > corruption and decline > apocalyptic destruction > rebirth/renewal of idyllic past.

One thing worth keeping in mind about fascists is that they often are very invested in a cyclical understanding of history. That's not just some kind of superficial, aesthetic tic or something. It checks a lot of boxes for them.
