Graphite was supposed to be spyware with a conscience.
Built by Paragon Solutions, backed by U.S. investors, and sold only to “trusted” governments.
But in 2023, it was used to hack a journalist and two human rights activists in Italy — and likely deployed by police in Ontario, Canada.
It can spy on your calls, track your location, even copy your messages from encrypted apps like Signal or WhatsApp — possibly by bypassing them entirely.
